Getting started

Woud is set up by a grown-up. On first run you will be asked to pass a simple parental gate, agree to how Woud handles your family's information, choose an age band, and add your storytellers — each child picks a pretend name, a colour and a signature sound, which is how Woud announces whose turn it is.

Then tap Begin bedtime. You choose who is reading tonight and how long you have. The Keeper does the rest.

Common questions

Does my child need an account?

No. Woud works without anyone signing in. Signing in is only so your story-world follows you to another device — and it is the grown-up who signs in, never the child.

Why does my child have a pretend name?

By design. Woud never asks for a child's real name, birthday, photo or location. Children are known inside the story only by the in-world name you choose together.

What is free, and what is paid?

The free tier is a complete bedtime story, every night, with no advertising and no time limit. Family and Premium add the living world that adapts to what your children say and remembers it from night to night, plus a richer narration voice. Prices are shown in the app before you buy anything.

How do I cancel a subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us: on your device open Settings → your name → Subscriptions, choose Woud, and cancel there. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. If you cancel during a free trial you are not charged.

How do I delete everything?

In the app: Settings → Forget everything. That erases your story-world from our servers. It is deliberate and it is permanent — there is no undo, so we ask you to confirm. If you would rather we did it for you, email us.

Can I use it with more than two children?

Yes — you can add every child in the household. Be aware that tonight's story has two speaking turns, so with three or more children some listen along on any given night while others take the turns. We are working on stories that address more children directly.

The story stopped, or the Keeper “paused”

That usually means the connection dropped mid-story. Tap Try again — the story picks up where it was, and nothing is lost. If it keeps happening, email us with the time it happened.

Is it suitable for a sensitive or neurodivergent child?

That is who we designed it for. Woud is dark by default, honours Reduce Motion and Dynamic Type, reads along for children who are learning to read, and works with VoiceOver. It winds the story down towards sleep rather than trying to keep anyone watching — there are no streaks, rewards, autoplay or infinite scroll anywhere in it.

Privacy and your rights

How we handle your family's information is set out in full in our Privacy Policy. To access, correct, delete or export your data, or to withdraw consent, email ops@dev-studios.com and we will respond within 30 days.

Reporting something concerning

If a story ever produces something you feel is not right for a child, please tell us at ops@dev-studios.com and include the date, the time, and roughly what was said. We treat these first, ahead of everything else, and we can turn off adaptive generation across the whole service within minutes if we need to.
